Harry Blackstone Sr.

Harry Blackstone Sr. (1885-1965), known as The Great Blackstone, was an American stage magician and illusionist whose touring shows defined grand illusion for generations.

Born in Chicago, Harry Blackstone Sr. built a lavish touring production of large-scale illusions, elegant presentation and classic stage magic. His show became a defining American theatrical spectacle through the first half of the twentieth century, including performances for US troops during the Second World War.

Blackstone combined technical precision with warmth and showmanship. His legacy was continued by his son, Harry Blackstone Jr., and remains an essential chapter in the history of American stage illusion.
