Bob Cassidy

Bob Cassidy was an American mentalist, author and teacher whose work connects practical performance with thoughtful presentation.

Performer and organiser

Born in Kearny, New Jersey, in 1949, Cassidy worked as a stage mentalist and lecturer. In 1978 he helped found the Psychic Entertainers Association, an international organisation devoted to psychic entertainment as a performing art. This contribution places him within both the literature and the professional community of mentalism.

Books and teaching

His publications include The Art of Mentalism (1983), The Principia Mentalia (1994) and The Artful Mentalism of Bob Cassidy (2004). His teaching also reached performers through lectures, recordings and electronic publications. For readers, the attraction is the opportunity to study routines alongside the decisions that shape their presentation, rather than treating each secret as an isolated acquisition.

Reading Cassidy today

Cassidy died on 24 February 2017. His books and recordings remain part of the material studied by mentalists. Before buying, check the exact title and edition: similarly named compilations and individual lecture releases are not necessarily interchangeable.
